All of the leather used for these books is vegetable tanned and is a byproduct of the food industry. The acid free wheat straw pages are great for: writing, drawing, sketching, pen, pencil, etc. The classic bind used on these books gives an elegant old-world finish and allows the user or local book-binding clubs to easily rebind the book with any type of paper. The dyes used are an environmentally friendly water based dye which leaves a rich hand-finished touch on each book bringing out the unique highlights, grains, and character of each piece of leather*. We use a variety of different, hand applied, finishes to both protect and emphasize the leathers natural beauty. This book was inspired by Alberta's provincial crest and custom developed from there. We created both the custom leather casing, complete with a custom "Alberta" Logo stamp on the inner flap, and the brass Alberta crest from scratch. The colouring on the metal is also custom. This dragon is our own design based on our studies of heraldic dragons. Since we are both personally interested in the lore and mythology of dragons...and because dragons may just be the number one requested image at our booth we wanted to make a special dragon together. The other inspiration behind this dragon was drawn from our multiple trips to Europe. Our intension with this design was to create a classy dragon that could be worn by any one who admires dragons. These earrings are made of pure copper and the unusual shape gives them an extra edginess. The glossy black inlay on the copper creates a very classy combination. You can wear these with a semi-casual attire or with a casual attire.

This bag is also constructed by hand, and even hand dyed and carved, making it a truly functional piece of wearable art that will last and last... and guess what the leather is entirely sustainable and hand dyed with an environmentally friendly dye.
We work mainly with vegetable tanned leather, which is also a by-product of the food industry, to create each of our pieces (books, masks, armour, corsets etc). Each piece made from vegetable tanned leather is meticulously hand carved, hand dyed, and hand finished. Some of these pieces are also hand painted with special leather paints and overlays. This ethically sourced tooling hide softens in over time for a beautiful old-world finish. The dyes used are an environmentally friendly water based dye which leaves a rich hand-finished touch on each piece bringing out the unique highlights, grains, and character of each piece of leather (and not considered as flaws). We use a variety of different, hand applied, finishes to both protect and emphasize the leathers natural beauty. Finishes may include, but are not limited to, any or all of the following depending on the piece: high quality oils, waxes, gums, and protective coats. Each component is hand buffed once the finishes have set to give it a resilient sheen.

Why We Make Books:
Books have been used for centuries to chronicle every aspect of human life and knowledge but one of the most important things books have captured over time are the stories and spirit of those who poured themselves into the pages. Our books capture the romanticism of the classic journal or artists pad by employing a classic binding, high quality leather, and blank pages to beckon the imagination. Our collection dives deeper still into the owners life as each piece is created to be a stand-alone functional piece of artwork which can be filled with treasures from their minds, hearts and lives. As works of art they can be displayed prominently on a shelf or coffee table to create an eye-catching feature. Drawing from our love of travel and the classical era these books are intended to be taken into the moments that define people and used as the scribe to capture the events of the day or maybe of a life time. The acid free pages are ideal for writing, drawing, sketching, photographs, keepsakes, souvenirs, and more. Each book can have new pages added if the user wishes to keep using the jacket or would like to add their own preferred papers in.

How we make our pieces:
Each book in this series is meticulously hand carved, hand dyed, hand finished and hand bound. Each image carved onto these books is an original created from our inspirations, which include: fantasy, travelling to ancient ruins, history and mythology. Some of these books are also hand painted with special leather paints and overlays. The leather used is an ethically sourced tooling hide that softens in over time. All of the leather used for these books is vegetable tanned and is a byproduct of the food industry. The acid free wheat straw pages are great for: writing, drawing, sketching, pen, pencil, etc. The classic bind used on these books gives an elegant old-world finish and allows the user or local book-binding clubs to easily rebind the book with any type of paper. The dyes used are an environmentally friendly water based dye which leaves a rich hand-finished touch on each book bringing out the unique highlights, grains, and character of each piece of leather*. We use a variety of different, hand applied, finishes to both protect and emphasize the leathers natural beauty. Finishes may include, but are not limited to, any or all of the following depending on the piece: high quality oils, waxes, gums, and protective coats. Each book is hand buffed once the finishes have set to give it a resilient sheen.

Each piece is finished with a meticulous hand applied coloring process wherein each color is individually applied and often on different days to allow for the lengthy drying process (up to 72 hours). The majority of the other steps revolve around an absurd amount of sanding and cleaning, as well as, adding the finishing touches such as ear hooks, jump rings, soldering etc. Because of this no two items are identical and they have variations between each item.

The hand painted gold part of the mask is done with a special blend of Liquitex acrylic paint. This is a work of art that can be worn or displayed as an art piece on your wall or mask stand.

These pendants were inspired by the magical sight of the new moon and sun in the sky at the same time. We were also inspired by moon, star, and sun images from the Victorian Period. Symbolically the pendant represents life and rebirth to many of our customers. This sun, moon and stars, medallion or pendant was created and designed by us in our small studio.

This listing is for a Celtic tree of life / Yggdrasil themed leather backpack. The flap of the bag is made from vegetable-tanned cowhide and is hand-carved, tooled, hand-dyed and hand-painted. The body of the bag is made of thick Bison leather and is a deep reddish-brown (see picture).
The flap will be hand-carved with the Tree of Life / Yggdrasil design shown in the picture
The flap will be hand-dyed brown to match the rest of the bag and will have alternating green and gold hand-painted leaves.
The size is approximately 16-1/2" x 18"
There is a pocket on the front just under the flap and a large main compartment
The straps are 1.5" wide and adjustable
A handle is being added to the top so the bag can be picked up by the handle rather than the straps
